Telangana CM A. Revanth Reddy pitches Hyderabad for Hyundai’s new car plant
The chief minister told Hyundai Motors India Engineering that Hyderabad’s logistics network, dedicated industrial zones and pro‑business policies make it the perfect site for the automaker’s upcoming manufacturing hub.

Hyderabad pitched as Hyundai’s next manufacturing hub
On Friday, 16 October 2026, a delegation from Hyundai Motors India Engineering (HMIE) visited Hyderabad to meet Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The group was headed by managing director Changyeon Cho, who has been overseeing Hyundai’s Indian engineering operations for several years.
Hyundai’s plan and the numbers behind it
The Hyundai team outlined a phased project that would be sited within the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) at Zaheerabad, just outside the city. The proposal calls for a total outlay of ₹8,528 crore and promises 4,276 jobs once fully operational. The plant will spread over 678 acres and will be linked to a new global R&D centre that Hyundai already runs in Hyderabad’s Hitec City – a facility that has been part of the city’s automotive ecosystem for two decades.
What the state is offering
Reddy assured the visitors that Telangana is ready to “provide all possible support” to accelerate the project. He pointed to the state’s dedicated mobility clusters, a well‑developed road, rail and air network, and a forthcoming high‑speed corridor that will connect Hyderabad to major ports. The chief minister also referenced the Peri‑Urban Region Economy (PURE) framework, a spatial plan aimed at concentrating manufacturing activities in strategically chosen zones.
Aligning with long‑term visions
Both sides linked the venture to broader state and corporate roadmaps. Reddy reminded Cho of the Bharat Future City initiative, a satellite city envisioned as a world‑class industrial hub, and invited Hyundai to showcase its plans at the upcoming Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026. Cho responded that Hyundai’s ambition to deepen its engineering footprint in Hyderabad dovetails with the state’s Telangana Rising 2047 vision, adding, “We will continue the Telangana growth story.”
Next steps
The delegation left Hyderabad with a clear timeline – the Zaheerabad site is expected to be ready for a groundbreaking ceremony in the coming months. Telangana’s cabinet sub‑committee on industrial and investment promotion, which cleared the project in June 2025, will now move to the implementation phase, coordinating land allocation, utilities and any fiscal incentives the state deems appropriate.
The meeting underscores Hyderabad’s emergence as a preferred destination for high‑value manufacturing and signals a boost to the state’s employment prospects as it strives to cement its place on India’s automotive map.
