Folkestone hotel fire treated as suspicious after hundreds evacuated

More than 280 guests were forced out of the landmark building in the middle of the night as 26 fire engines battled the basement blaze.

A major fire at the Grand Burstin Hotel in Folkestone is being treated as suspicious by Kent Police. Around 280 people were evacuated from the seafront building in the early hours of Saturday, with structural engineers now assessing the damage.
