Bengaluru explosion at under-construction site injures two workers

Two construction labourers were injured on Tuesday evening following a suspicious explosion at an under-construction building in Bengaluru's Pulakeshinagar neighbourhood.

The blast occurred on Jeremiah Road, leaving both men with head and facial injuries. They were identified as Allauddin and Suraj. Emergency services moved both workers to Bowring Hospital, where they are undergoing medical treatment.

Local law enforcement swiftly cordoned off the structure while specialists arrived to determine the nature of the blast.

Security units deploy to the scene

Officers from the local Pulakeshinagar police station were reinforced by specialist teams within hours of the incident. Personnel from the state Anti-Terrorism Squad, the Internal Security Division, and the bomb disposal unit carried out detailed site inspections through Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Investigators are examining residue from the site to establish what caused the detonation. Police have not yet formally confirmed whether the blast was caused by an industrial accident, stored materials, or an explosive device left on the premises. Forensic experts collected material samples for laboratory analysis to clarify the source.

Public safety agencies maintained a calm perimeter around Jeremiah Road, allowing traffic to move through adjacent streets with minimal disruption.

Pulakeshinagar police registered a case and are taking statements from contractors, co-workers, and residents living near the property. Site managers are also being questioned regarding work schedules and site security arrangements.
