UP scholarship 2026 applications open for post-matric students until October 31
The Uttar Pradesh government has set 31 October 2026 as the application deadline for post-matric scholarship candidates across the state.

What is happening with the UP scholarship scheme
The Uttar Pradesh government has opened online applications for its 2026-27 scholarship scheme, giving post-matric students across the state until 31 October 2026 to complete their submissions.
The programme delivers direct financial support to eligible students enrolled in higher education courses, including graduation, postgraduation, diplomas, ITI courses and other qualifications under the Dashmottar category. By covering candidates from General, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Class and minority communities, the initiative reinforces the state government's commitment to making education accessible to all sections of society.
While application windows for pre-matric students in Classes 9 to 12 closed earlier after launching on 11 August, post-matric candidates can still submit forms through the state portal completely free of charge.
Who is eligible and how to apply
To qualify for the Uttar Pradesh government scholarship, candidates must be permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh and enrolled in a recognized institution within the state.
Eligibility depends on household financial thresholds:
- General, Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) applicants: Annual family income must not exceed ₹2.5 lakh.
- Other Backward Class (OBC) applicants: Annual family income must not exceed ₹2 lakh.
- Families engaged in occupations classified as unclean: No income limit applies.
Financial assistance amounts vary according to student category, course type and accommodation status as a day scholar or hosteller. For comparison, pre-matric SC day scholars receive ₹3,500 annually while hostellers receive ₹7,000, and General category pre-matric students receive ₹3,000.
What is the disbursement schedule for 2026-27
The state administration has structured scholarship disbursements into dedicated windows to ensure orderly processing and direct benefit transfers.
For renewal applicants, the initial payout window is scheduled from 1 December to 10 December 2026. A second disbursement period from 16 January to 25 January 2027 will handle cases that required data verification or corrections.
For fresh applicants, the first round of financial transfers will take place between 21 December and 31 December 2026. A final transfer window from 27 January to 31 January 2027 will cover remaining corrected applications.
