Amber Alert issued for missing 14-year-old Isabel Gonzalez in Weatherford

Texas authorities have issued an Amber Alert for a 14-year-old girl who vanished from Weatherford on Sunday night.

Isabel Gonzalez was last seen at around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, 13 September, in the 100 block of Woodrun Court. The Texas Department of Public Safety blasted out the emergency alert late on Monday evening, urging anyone with information to contact police immediately.

Investigators have described Gonzalez as a white teenager, 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing approximately 120 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. When she was last seen, she was wearing a black sweatshirt—described by some officials as a hoodie—and black shorts.

The search is centred on Weatherford, a community of around 37,000 people located about 30 miles west of Fort Worth. The area where she went missing, the 100 block of Woodrun Court, is a residential neighbourhood on the south-east side of the city. Police are asking residents in the immediate vicinity to check any home security cameras or doorbell footage captured around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday night for any unusual activity, vehicles, or people matching Gonzalez's description.

Police have not yet said whether they believe Gonzalez was abducted, or if she is thought to be in a specific vehicle or with a particular suspect. No suspect descriptions or vehicle details have been released by the authorities. The lack of suspect or vehicle descriptions so far suggests investigators are working with limited initial leads, making public assistance vital.

The sudden activation of the Amber Alert has raised local concern. The alert system, which was created in Texas in 1996 following the abduction of nine-year-old Amber Hagerman in Arlington, is strictly reserved for cases where investigators believe a child is in immediate danger of serious bodily harm or death.

State troopers and local officers are continuing their search on the ground. For now, the focus is on spreading the teenager's photo and description as widely as possible across North Texas and beyond.
