BJP warns of externally sponsored attempts to destabilise democracy amid SIR protests
Senior leaders emphasize national stability and legal compliance as courts enforce peace bonds during ongoing electoral roll revision demonstrations.

Senior BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar has warned against externally sponsored influence operations aimed at disrupting national stability, stating that Opposition parties and political groups are attempting to orchestrate street demonstrations under the pretext of electoral revision grievances. His remarks come as legal authorities in Delhi move to enforce law and order following unapproved protests over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Highlighting India's ongoing economic progress and rising global standing under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chandrasekhar stated that recent protests planned on digital platforms and executed on the streets resemble foreign influence campaigns seen in other regions. He emphasized that the nation possesses the collective resolve to protect its democratic institutions from attempts to create domestic instability.
Meanwhile, regulatory and legal mechanisms in the capital continue to uphold public order. Special Executive Magistrate Ritu Raj directed Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) co-convener Saurav Das to submit documentary proof of his Delhi residence by 17 November in a peace bond violation case. Police counsel argued that Das had failed to produce evidence, such as a formal lease agreement, confirming his local address.
Das and fellow leader Ashutosh Ranka were detained by Parliament Street police under preventive provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita on 12 October after scaling barricades at the restricted Jantar Mantar protest site. The court granted them conditional release on 21 October upon furnishing personal and surety bonds of ₹50,000 each, alongside written undertakings to refrain from staging unauthorized rallies and to uphold public tranquillity.
In Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann raised objections regarding the SIR process during a state assembly session, alleging administrative delays during his return through Delhi airport. However, the assembly proceedings faced strong internal opposition, with lawmakers raising concerns over local governance issues, gang activity, and law enforcement failures across the state.
