ECI orders repoll at three booths in Agra Teachers MLC seat on October 26
The Election Commission acted swiftly to ensure election integrity in the Agra Teachers Legislative Council seat following reports of voting irregularities.

What happened
The Election Commission of India has ordered fresh voting across three polling booths in the Agra Division Teachers' Constituency of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, acting quickly to ensure total transparency and protect the integrity of the electoral process.
Exercising powers under Section 58A (2)(a) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the commission declared the October 23 vote at the designated locations void. Polling at these three stations will take place again on Monday, October 26, between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.
The directive follows recommendations submitted by Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa after allegations of procedural lapses were raised during Friday's election.
Affected polling stations
The re-polling will cover three specific locations in Agra district where administrative reviews were requested.
| Polling booth | Location | Room details |
|---|---|---|
| Booth No. 20 | Tehsil Campus, Kheragarh | Room No. 1 |
| Booth No. 21 | Area Panchayat Office, Saiya | Room No. 1 |
| Booth No. 26 | Area Panchayat Office, Fatehabad | Room No. 1 |
To ensure complete fairness, the Election Commission instructed state officials to verify that any personnel linked to lapses or irregularities during the initial voting are excluded from duty during the fresh poll.
Swift administrative response
Following the complaints, law enforcement and electoral authorities moved promptly to inspect the sites and ensure smooth polling administration. Agra Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar personally inspected the affected booths in Saiya and Fatehabad to review security arrangements.
"On receiving complaints, I visited certain booths. SP leaders were assured of free and fair polling," Kumar said, confirming that all guidelines issued by the Election Commission are being strictly enforced on the ground.
The voting took place across 11 Legislative Council seats covering 72 districts in Uttar Pradesh, with 152 candidates contesting five graduate and six teachers constituencies. Votes cast across all locations, including the three re-polled booths in Agra, will be counted on October 27, with final results announced the same day.
