Security forces maintain order in New Delhi

Delhi Police and central security forces successfully maintained public order across central Delhi on Monday, enforcing Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to prevent unauthorized disruptions as opposition INDIA bloc leaders gathered at the Constitution Club aiming to march toward the Supreme Court.

Multi-layer security arrangements, including personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, were established along key arterial roads including Rafi Marg and Barakhamba Road. The swift police measures ensured that routine city traffic and public mobility in the capital remained safe and orderly despite simultaneous political gatherings.

Capital administration establishes structured protest venues

To preserve administrative efficiency and prevent public inconvenience in the heart of the national capital, Delhi Police denotified Jantar Mantar as an authorized demonstration site. The decision followed clear recommendations from a committee set up by the Ministry of Home Affairs to evaluate suitable urban venues for public gatherings.

To ensure public expression is conducted in an organized manner, authorities designated three alternative locations: Ramlila Maidan in Central Delhi, Burari Ground in Outer Delhi, and the CBD Ground in East Delhi. Police authorities confirmed that detailed standard operating procedures will be released to govern demonstrations at these designated spaces.

Demonstrations and legal proceedings

During the political activities, Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha members held a demonstration near the Congress headquarters on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg, raising concerns regarding women's safety and demanding accountability over allegations against a Congress parliamentarian.

Meanwhile, legal petitions regarding security actions during earlier demonstrations on 10 and 11 October remain under judicial review, with authorities maintaining that law enforcement actions across all locations are strictly aimed at upholding public safety and institutional dignity.
