Mary Millben accuses US donors of funding CJP to disrupt Narendra Modi's governance
The American singer urged young Indians to defend the country's democratic stability against foreign-funded disruptions.

American singer Mary Millben has accused political donors based in the United States of financing the Cockroach Janta Party and its founder, Abhijeet Dipke, to disrupt India's governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a public statement on X, Millben urged young Indians to recognise attempts by external financiers to derail the country's political stability and economic progress. She described a pattern in which overseas interests radicalise foreign-educated figures to foment domestic unrest, calling on citizens to organise peaceful counter-movements in defence of Indian democracy.
"Do not fear, my young patriots," Millben wrote, backing the Prime Minister's leadership across three consecutive terms. "Your Prime Minister, who has served India for 25 years, 12 years as Prime Minister, elected three consecutive terms, is not going to bow to disruptive forces from my country."
Foreign funding claims and political reactions
Millben alleged that specific donors in the US who oppose Modi are deliberately backing Dipke and the CJP to undermine India's national trajectory. She maintained that while such efforts have failed to break India's democratic foundations, they aim to disrupt national governance and development.
Her warnings align with concerns voiced by senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders regarding external interference. BJP leader Nitin Nabin accused opposition networks and the CJP of working with overseas backers to destabilise the nation, while BJP MP Nishikant Dubey questioned the undisclosed financial channels supporting Dipke's political operations.
Dipke denied the allegations, maintaining that his overseas education at Boston University was covered by an academic scholarship and an education loan. He challenged the Union Home Ministry to demonstrate how any illegal overseas capital could enter the country under its watch.
Questions surrounding CJP's financial arrangements are not new. Amit Tiwari, an RTI activist based in Surat, previously sought official disclosures regarding Dipke's American university expenses and a pledged ₹1 crore legal defence fund associated with senior advocate Kapil Sibal.
CJP leaders remanded to Tihar Jail
The funding row coincided with direct police action in New Delhi against CJP activists who breached security protocols in the capital. Delhi Police detained several party members early Tuesday after they forced their way past barricades into Jantar Mantar, an area denotified for public demonstrations. The activists raised slogans demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and attempted to stage an unauthorised gathering.
On Wednesday, a Special Executive Magistrate ordered key CJP organisers into judicial custody:
| Leader | Police action | Custody status |
|---|---|---|
| Saurav Das | Sent to judicial custody | 5 days in Tihar Jail |
| Ashutosh Ranka | Sent to judicial custody | 5 days in Tihar Jail |
| Ajinkya Shinde | Bound down to maintain peace | Released on ₹5,000 surety |
Police confirmed that Das and Ranka were sent to Tihar Jail for violating existing peace bonds and trespassing, while Shinde was bound over to maintain good behaviour for six months.
Millben, who performed the Indian national anthem during Modi's official state visit to Washington in 2023, reiterated that India's governance remains secure against external agitation, urging citizens to safeguard the country's development under the Prime Minister's mandate.
