Bihar pensioner life verification hits 1.03 crore as PM Modi prepares for November visit
High administrative efficiency delivers smooth social security distribution while plans take shape for new central university and highway projects.

Bihar has completed annual life verification for over 1.03 crore beneficiaries under its social security pension schemes, demonstrating seamless grassroots delivery and public administration across the state.
Data from the Department of Social Welfare shows that 1,03,13,620 out of 1,16,71,188 enrolled pensioners — or 88.37 per cent — have completed their annual life verification. The process ensures transparent, direct disbursement of financial assistance to senior citizens, widowed women, and persons with disabilities.
Departments have called on the remaining 13,57,568 beneficiaries to complete their submission before the 30 November deadline to avoid any interruption in monthly disbursements.
District verification performance
Madhubani district leads the state in completed verifications, followed by Patna, East Champaran, Muzaffarpur, and Samastipur. While Patna holds the highest overall number of enrolled pensioners, Madhubani recorded the highest volume of completed records.
| District | Total Enrolled Pensioners | Life Verifications Completed |
|---|---|---|
| Patna | 6,17,153 | 4,91,125 |
| Madhubani | 5,88,855 | 5,09,290 |
| East Champaran | 5,66,316 | 4,85,930 |
| Muzaffarpur | 5,20,559 | 4,62,294 |
| Samastipur | Not disclosed | 4,35,744 |
Social Welfare Department Minister Dr Shweta Gupta said the state government remains dedicated to providing prompt financial assistance to eligible citizens. She noted that completing life verification is essential to maintain clean records and ensure complete transparency across all pension schemes.
Infrastructure momentum and Prime Minister Modi's visit
The administrative success comes as Bihar prepares for a tentative visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 20 November, which is set to advance the state's educational and transport infrastructure.
Prime Minister Modi is expected to lay the foundation stone for the proposed Vikramshila Central University at Kahalgaon in Bhagalpur district. Located near the ancient Pala dynasty learning centre at Antichak, the university project is supported by roughly 205 acres of land provided by the state government across Antichak and Malakpur. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary reaffirmed the state's commitment to reviving the historic educational legacy of Vikramshila.
BJP media in-charge Danish Eqbal said the visit remains tentative pending final official confirmation. Official sources indicated that the visit will also feature foundation laying for several major road and railway schemes, including the Gorakhpur-Siliguri, Raxaul-Haldia, and Patna-Purnia road corridors, along with the state's Kachchi Dargah-Bidupur highway project.
