Mumbai Police have heightened security and launched an investigation after a threat email was sent to Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde, targeting her office, actor Amitabh Bachchan's residence, and singer Diljit Dosanjh's upcoming concert.

Security agencies acted swiftly across the city on Friday, conducting thorough sweeps of the locations and confirming that no suspicious items were found.

Threat email triggers security sweeps in Mumbai

The email, received at the mayor's office on Friday morning, threatened attacks on key locations, including Bachchan's Jalsa residence and Dosanjh's scheduled concert at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse on 27 November.

Police personnel and bomb disposal squads were deployed immediately to inspect the venues. Officers confirmed that security protocols were reinforced around all public figures and sites named in the message to maintain complete safety and public order.

Delhi Police refuse permission for capital concert

The heightened security in Mumbai follows preventive measures in the national capital, where Delhi Police declined permission for another leg of Dosanjh's concert tour.

In an official letter to ticketing platform BookMyShow, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police for South District stated that the request for an event at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on 30 October could not be approved due to specific threat inputs and extensive policing commitments during the festive season.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Anant Mittal confirmed that permission for the Delhi venue was withheld as security agencies prioritized public safety. The decision followed a series of hoax bomb threat emails sent to six Delhi schools on 15 October, which included slogans warning students against attending the show.
