Bengaluru-based defense tech startup Paar Autonomy has raised Rs 10 crore in a funding round led by AdvantEdge Founders. The company plans to use the capital to scale up domestic manufacturing of its artificial intelligence camera hardware and advance technology that lets military drones operate without GPS signals.

Founded in June 2024 by Vignesh Sivaram Jayaraman, Paar Autonomy builds specialized camera systems and AI software for unmanned aerial vehicles and ground defense platforms. Its technology addresses a major challenge on modern battlefields, where electronic jamming frequently cuts off satellite signals and remote communication links.

How the technology works

When GPS signals or remote control links are blocked, standard drones often lose control or fail to complete their missions. Paar Autonomy's system combines proprietary camera hardware with onboard software that processes visual data in real time.

By analysing terrain and recognizing objects locally, the software allows defense platforms to establish their position and complete reconnaissance missions entirely independent of satellite networks.

Strengthening domestic defense manufacturing

The funding comes amid a sustained national push to expand domestic defense manufacturing and build sovereign technological capabilities. By producing high-end optics and edge-computing software within India, startups like Paar Autonomy help reduce reliance on imported defense hardware.

With the new funding, the company aims to expand its engineering teams in Bengaluru, step up hardware production, and deliver its vision systems to defense partners across the country.
