Apple Music unveils sound-shaped liquid glass logo alongside foldable iPhone Duo
The streaming service built its new visual identity by filming oil ripples driven by audio frequencies, rolling out alongside Apple's first foldable phone.

Apple has introduced a revamped brand identity for Apple Music, swapping out standard graphic design techniques to generate a new logo directly from physical sound vibrations.
Rather than drawing the symbol digitally from scratch, the design team channelled audio frequencies through an acoustic transducer placed underneath a shallow bath of mineral oil. The physical vibrations sent ripples, currents and waves across the oil's surface, reflecting light in shifting patterns. Filming those movements provided the raw footage and geometric foundation for the finished mark and its animated mnemonic.
The project brought together British music producer Fred and audio specialists NEST Acoustics, who deconstructed specific musical notes to create the composition driving the liquid's motion.
Sound waves meet liquid glass
The streaming service's visual update links closely with Apple's broader Liquid Glass visual language, combining dynamic light refractions and reflections with the fluidity of sound waves.
Beyond the animated emblem, the overhaul introduces an updated wordmark. It pairs the familiar Apple icon with a customised, bold, lowercase version of the company's SF Pro typeface. The new typography was first previewed in late September during promotional work for Apple Music Hall, the company's dedicated live music venue in London.
Officials confirmed that the visual language took several months of physical and digital testing to refine. A companion documentary film details the transition from initial audio tracks to the final visual assets, which begin appearing across Apple Music programming, original series, and live event backdrops this week. The service currently hosts a catalogue exceeding 100 million tracks.
iPhone Duo marks foldable debut
The music service's redesign accompanied the unveiling of Apple's first foldable smartphone, named the iPhone Duo. Built in a passport-style book format, the handset features dual displays designed for intensive mobile multitasking.
| Display | Size | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Cover screen | 5.4 inches | Outer display for compact phone use |
| Inner screen | 7.6 inches | Unfolded primary display for tablet viewing |
Internally, the device runs on Apple's 2nm-class A20 Pro processor, backed by a custom vapour chamber cooling system aimed at managing thermal output during demanding computing, gaming, and artificial intelligence workloads.
On the back, the iPhone Duo carries a 48-megapixel Fusion primary sensor alongside an ultra-wide lens capable of close-up macro photography. It also includes an internal Centre Stage front camera designed to frame users automatically regardless of whether the device is held horizontally or vertically. The foldable handset enters the Indian market with a base storage price tag of Rs 2,99,900.
