ITRA Jamnagar hosts Ayu-Tech Navonmesh 2026 to integrate AI with Ayurveda
India's premier Ayurveda institute brings together global experts to combine traditional medicine with artificial intelligence.

ITRA Jamnagar hosted the national conference "Ayu-Tech Navonmesh 2026", bringing together researchers, technologists, and public health officials to accelerate the integration of traditional Ayurveda with artificial intelligence.
The summit marked the sixth Foundation Day of the Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda, dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2020 as an Institute of National Importance. Discussions centered on deploying machine learning and data analytics to modernize Ayurvedic drug research, clinical trials, and patient care while preserving foundational holistic principles.
Demonstrating the Union government's push for digital health infrastructure, Ministry of Ayush Officer on Special Duty Naman Goyal showcased progress under the Ayush Grid project. The presentation highlighted AI-driven chatbots and digital tools capable of automating data collection, model training, and prediction to strengthen public health delivery.
Global collaboration and clinical achievements
International public health experts emphasized the strategic value of incorporating advanced technology into traditional medicine. Dr Geetha Krishnan from the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine noted that AI holds immense potential to enhance Ayurvedic practices, provided it acts as a complement rather than a substitute for core knowledge systems. Sameer Pujari, AI Lead for Digital Health and Innovation at WHO Headquarters, referenced ongoing global collaborations with the International Telecommunication Union and World Intellectual Property Organization to establish standards for AI in healthcare.
ITRA Director Prof. Dr Tanuja Nesari highlighted that the conference creates a vital roadmap for ethical and scientific collaboration across the sector.
