Hindustan Zinc Q2 net profit surges 142 per cent to Rs 6,412 crore
Record production and firm global metal realisations power a dramatic rise in earnings for the industrial producer.

Hindustan Zinc reported a 142 per cent year-on-year surge in consolidated net profit to Rs 6,412 crore for the second quarter, highlighting the momentum and operational resilience of India's core industrial sector.
The strong performance was anchored by robust metal prices, record quarterly production volumes, and enhanced cost efficiencies. Revenue from operations for the July–September quarter climbed 76.5 per cent to Rs 15,093 crore, up from Rs 8,549 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) more than doubled, rising 108 per cent year-on-year to Rs 9,285 crore. The EBITDA margin expanded by 10 percentage points to 62 per cent.

Record production and silver growth
Revenue growth across core product lines contributed to the quarterly result. Net silver sales soared 141 per cent year-on-year to Rs 4,111 crore, while zinc sales reached Rs 8,224 crore, up 54 per cent. Lead sales grew by 35 per cent, and sales of other metal by-products rose 151 per cent.
On the operational front, Hindustan Zinc recorded its highest-ever quarterly mined metal production at 271 kilotonnes (KT), alongside refined metal output of 264 KT. Total expenses increased 31.5 per cent year-on-year to Rs 6,895 crore, reflecting higher input costs.
Operational efficiencies offset broader commodity pressures. The zinc cost of production (excluding royalty) improved by 29 per cent year-on-year to $703 per tonne. The company attributed the cost reduction to superior mined grades, increased production scale, higher renewable energy usage, and improved by-product credits.
Strategic growth and critical minerals
Chief Executive Officer Amarendu Prakash said the record quarterly production figures reflect the strength of the organisation's operations and assets. He noted that the company is continuing to focus on disciplined growth, technology adoption, and expanding its portfolio of critical minerals to support India's ongoing energy transition.
Chief Financial Officer Amit Gupta added that the company's 62 per cent EBITDA margin, strong cash flow, and robust balance sheet demonstrate disciplined execution and productivity gains.
The company's expanding capacity and focus on critical raw materials position it to meet expanding domestic demand while supporting national infrastructure development.
