Paras Healthcare has raised Rs 652.5 crore from anchor investors ahead of opening its Rs 1,450-crore initial public offering to the public on October 21.

Regulatory filings submitted to stock exchanges show the hospital operator allotted 94,15,584 equity shares to institutional investors at the upper end of the price band, Rs 693 per share. The anchor allotment drew a mix of sovereign wealth managers, international funds and domestic asset managers.

Who backed the anchor book

Global institutions participating in the round included the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, BlackRock Global Funds, Eastspring Investments, Government Pension Fund Global, Citigroup Global and Natixis International Funds.

Domestic mutual funds took up a significant share of the allocation. Nine local fund houses secured 55.55 lakh shares worth roughly Rs 385 crore across 24 separate schemes. Bidders included SBI Mutual Fund, HDFC AMC, ICICI Prudential AMC, Kotak Mahindra AMC, WhiteOak Capital, Motilal Oswal AMC, Edelweiss, Baroda BNP Paribas Mutual Fund and ITI Mutual Fund. Life insurers, including ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Edelweiss Life Insurance and Canara HSBC Life Insurance, took up 6.49 lakh shares valued at about Rs 45 crore.

Stock exchange disclosures described 39 institutional funds participating in the round, while company filings listed 21 distinct institutional investor entities.

Offer structure and fundraising targets

The public issue opens for bidding on October 21 and closes on October 23, with shares priced between Rs 660 and Rs 693 each. Trading on domestic exchanges is scheduled to begin on October 28.

The firm previously considered an issue size of Rs 1,800 crore before settling on the current Rs 1,450-crore structure. JM Financial, BofA Securities India and Nuvama Wealth Management are managing the share sale, while MUFG Intime India is registrar.

Network and capital expenditure plans

The company operates eight hospitals under the Paras Health brand, providing 2,211 beds across northern and eastern India. Its facilities operate in Gurugram and Panchkula in Haryana, Patna and Darbhanga in Bihar, Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, Udaipur in Rajasthan, Ranchi in Jharkhand, and Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.

The capital raised from the fresh issue will primarily cut borrowing costs, with Rs 375 crore earmarked to pay down existing debt and the remainder directed towards general corporate requirements. Balance sheet deleveraging comes alongside pipeline investments: the company is constructing a 300-bed hospital in Gurugram and a 500-bed hospital in Ludhiana, projects intended to expand its regional capacity to 3,011 beds by March 2028.

The anchor participation reflects steady institutional demand for Indian healthcare providers, particularly those delivering specialist tertiary infrastructure into regional cities and underserved state capitals.
