Stock market rally adds Rs 3.65 lakh crore to top Indian firms

Nine of India's ten most valuable listed companies added a combined Rs 3.65 lakh crore to their market capitalisation over the past week, driven by a sharp recovery in information technology stocks and broad-based buying across heavyweights.

The benchmark BSE Sensex surged 2,256.94 points, or 3.11 per cent, while the NSE Nifty jumped 625.7 points, or 2.77 per cent. The gains marked the strongest weekly performance for Indian equities in nearly six months, reflecting solid underlying strength in the national economy and sustained investor trust.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) led the rally, recording the highest gain among blue-chip companies after encouraging corporate earnings for the September quarter lifted market sentiment.

Economic fundamentals support equity market momentum

Market analysts attributed the robust weekly gains to strong corporate performance and resilient domestic demand. Enrich Money Chief Executive Officer Ponmudi R said the rebound was primarily driven by positive September quarter earnings in the IT sector, alongside renewed buying interest across major index heavyweights.

State Bank of India gained Rs 3,323.07 crore during the week, while Life Insurance Corporation of India added Rs 4,933.50 crore. Non-banking financial major Bajaj Finance rose by Rs 14,786.65 crore.

Infrastructure company Larsen & Toubro was the sole laggard among the top ten, with its market capitalisation declining by Rs 9,232.26 crore to Rs 4,99,725.06 crore.

Despite minor selective pullbacks, the overall market trajectory points to steady domestic equity stability, supported by strong macroeconomic fundamentals and robust institutional momentum.
