UltraTech Cement has delivered a strong performance for the July–September quarter, with consolidated net profit surging over 21 percent year-on-year, propelled by sustained momentum in national infrastructure expansion and robust construction demand across India.

The Aditya Birla Group flagship reported a consolidated net profit of up to ₹1,501 crore for the second quarter, rising from ₹1,232 crore in the same period last year. Company filings indicate net sales jumped 18.9 percent to ₹23,024 crore, while total revenue from operations reached ₹23,295 crore. Net profit margin improved to 7 percent from 6 percent a year ago, reflecting cost discipline and a sharper focus on premium products.

Cement sales volumes and capacity utilisation

Higher execution pace across domestic development projects lifted UltraTech’s grey cement sales volumes by nearly 14 percent to 35.94 million tonnes, up from 31.58 million tonnes in the corresponding quarter last year. Plant capacity utilisation climbed to 71 percent from 66 percent over the same timeframe.

The company's total domestic grey cement capacity reached 204.7 million tonnes per annum (mtpa), taking its total global capacity to 210.1 mtpa when including overseas facilities. UltraTech confirmed that its organic capital expenditure programme remains on track to expand total capacity beyond 240 mtpa by March 2028.

Green power and expansion into building materials

Alongside expanding its core cement operations, the company accelerated its transition toward clean energy. During the quarter, UltraTech added 117 megawatts of renewable energy and 10 megawatts of Waste Heat Recovery System capacity, steadily elevating the share of green power in its energy mix.

Marking a major strategic expansion into complementary building materials, UltraTech also launched its housing wires and cables brand, UltraVolt. The company commissioned a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Jhagadia in Gujarat, designed to process 78,000 tonnes of copper and 24,000 tonnes of aluminium annually. UltraTech stated that this installed capacity immediately establishes the company as the second-largest player by capacity in the housing wire segment, supported by a rapid nationwide distribution rollout.

Following the financial release, UltraTech Cement shares traded around 2 percent lower at ₹10,690 on the BSE, reflecting short-term seasonal rebalancing typical of the monsoon quarter. Over the longer term, the company’s stock has appreciated nearly 49 percent over five years, underscoring strong market faith in India’s industrial growth.
