Strong earnings growth in Q2
State-owned Union Bank of India reported a 30 per cent year-on-year rise in standalone net profit to ₹5,537 crore for the September quarter, driven by higher net interest income, expanding operating margins, and a steep drop in loan loss provisions.
Net interest income for the lender grew 20 per cent to ₹10,582 crore compared with the same period last year. The earnings performance underlines the sustained health and credit strength of India's public sector banking industry, which continues to support capital investment and small business growth across the country.
