Revanth Reddy sanctions ₹6 lakh to bring home body of Jagtial worker killed in Ukraine
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has released relief funds to repatriate the body of Vavilala Sudarshan Goud, who died in a missile strike.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has sanctioned ₹6 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to cover the repatriation costs for a migrant worker from Jagtial district who died in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
Vavilala Sudarshan Goud, 36, a construction labourer from Hasanabad village in Jagtial Urban mandal, was killed on 1 September following a Russian rocket and drone attack. His family had struggled for weeks to meet the financial expenses required to return his mortal remains from eastern Europe.
Following an urgent appeal by the worker’s family, the state administration stepped in to clear the administrative and financial hurdles involved in bringing the body home.
Family appeal and swift state intervention
Sudarshan had travelled to Ukraine four months ago to seek work in the construction sector. Following the fatal missile strike, his family found themselves unable to bear the estimated ₹6 lakh required to transport his remains back to India after his overseas employer failed to cover the expense.
His wife, Vavilala Bhargavi, and mother, Gangu, presented their plight before the state government during a CM Pravasi Prajavani grievance session in Hyderabad. Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar and Manakondur MLA Dr Kavvampalli Satyanarayana met the family at the help desk, after which the minister formally submitted a written request to the Chief Minister’s Office on 9 October asking for special relief on humanitarian grounds.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy moved quickly on the recommendation, directing the immediate release of ₹6 lakh from the relief fund to clear the repatriation costs.
Coordination with the Indian Embassy in Kyiv
Alongside the financial clearance, the Chief Minister instructed state officials to coordinate actively with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Kyiv to expedite the identification and transport of the body.
