Cristiano Ronaldo provisionally suspended by Portugal FA after camp walkout
The 41-year-old forward accused coach Jorge Jesus of breaking promises over playing time before leaving the squad ahead of their match against Denmark.

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has provisionally suspended Cristiano Ronaldo and opened urgent disciplinary proceedings after the national team captain walked out of camp following a dispute with head coach Jorge Jesus.
The decision follows an incident during the UEFA Nations League international window when the 41-year-old forward left the squad prior to Portugal's fixture against Denmark on 1 October. Ronaldo had previously been made to warm up as a substitute in a match against Norway on 27 September but remained unused on the bench.
In a statement released on social media on Tuesday, Ronaldo apologised to fans for leaving the camp but claimed Jesus had broken promises made regarding his playing time. Ronaldo stated that Jesus originally proposed a schedule in which the striker would miss matches against Norway and Denmark to manage his physical workload. However, Ronaldo said he insisted on remaining with the squad as captain.
Ronaldo said Jesus changed the arrangement on the day of the Norway match, promising him 30 minutes on the pitch, but subsequently failed to bring him on. Ronaldo further alleged that Jesus agreed to address the miscommunication publicly in a press conference using an agreed statement, but failed to do so.
The FPF confirmed in a statement on Saturday that its non-professional section opened the disciplinary process on 9 October to examine the events of 7 October. The federation classified the case as urgent and noted that Ronaldo would remain subject to a non-automatic preventive suspension until a final disciplinary decision is announced.
Despite the rift, Ronaldo emphasized that he remains committed to representing his country once any formal penalty is served. "I will be available, as I have always been until today, to compete and win for our national team," Ronaldo said, acknowledging that his decision to leave the camp required punishment.
Ronaldo holds Portugal's all-time appearance and goalscoring records, having scored 146 goals in 234 international matches. Portugal have already qualified for the Nations League quarter-finals after winning all four of their group matches.
Returning to club duty on Friday, Ronaldo scored the opening goal for Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr in a 3-0 victory against Diriyah in the Saudi Pro League. The goal marked the 980th of his professional career.
