What happened

Foundry, a home appliance startup founded by former Dyson India Managing Director Ankit Jain, has raised ₹12 crore in a pre-seed funding round.

The investment round was co-led by venture capital firms BEENEXT and Kettleborough VC. Individual investors participating in the round include Rishubh Satiya of Plix, Anindita Sampath of Yoga Bar, and Anita Pramoda of Owned Outcomes.

The funding highlights growing investor trust in India's technology and manufacturing capabilities, where home-grown startups are increasingly engineering high-value consumer products for domestic and global markets.

How the funds will be used

Foundry plans to deploy the capital towards technology development and core product engineering. The company is preparing to launch its initial range of kitchen appliances in the second half of 2027, combining in-house, patent-pending technology with industrial design tailored for modern homes.

While the startup's debut products will focus on the kitchen space, the company stated that it eventually plans to expand into broader home appliance categories.

"I’ve spent years working at the intersection of technology and consumer products," said Ankit Jain, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Foundry. "The next leap in appliances won’t come simply from making individual machines better. It will come from rethinking how they are engineered, how they work together, and how intelligence can make them more useful over time. That’s the approach we’re taking at Foundry."

Anirudh Garg, Partner at BEENEXT, noted that India's market for premium consumer goods is maturing rapidly. "The time for premium home appliances in India has arrived," Garg said, adding that Jain’s experience in scaling consumer products across international markets positions the venture to build a global brand from India.
