New physical AI venture in San Francisco

Anjali Sardana, founder and chief executive of Bengaluru-based household services platform Pronto, has launched a new physical artificial intelligence venture in San Francisco named Provision Labs.

Sardana will continue leading Pronto while serving as founder and chief executive officer of Provision Labs, according to the new company's official online profile. The development, first reported by The Economic Times citing sources familiar with the matter, highlights how Indian technology leadership is expanding into frontier global artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Provision Labs is building infrastructure designed to support the collection of data, evaluation, and deployment of physical AI systems. Unlike generative models that produce text or imagery, physical AI systems require real-world operational data to learn how physical objects behave and how autonomous machines can act safely in dynamic environments.

Global investor backing and sector focus

Provision Labs has secured backing from high-profile investors, including Lachy Groom, General Catalyst, Bain Capital Ventures, and Glade Brook Capital. The company has not disclosed the amount of capital raised or its financial valuation.

The venture reflects the increasing global profile of India's technology ecosystem, where founders are leveraging operational insights to address critical technological requirements on the global stage.

Link between household workflows and physical AI

Provision Labs enters a growing global sector as robotics developers seek high-quality physical datasets to train machines performing tasks in homes, warehouses, and industrial facilities.

Sardana's Indian venture, Pronto, previously explored physical AI data collection through its Verified service, which recorded household task workflows to build anonymised datasets for AI training. Provision Labs has not stated whether it will integrate data collection with Pronto's operations or operate through independent commercial arrangements.
