Record‑setting peacock over Mysuru

On the night of 18 October 2026, 3,473 drones lifted off from the Torchlight Parade Ground in Bannimantap and traced the outline of a peacock – India’s national bird – across the sky. The formation was officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the largest aerial bird display created by multirotor drones. The achievement was credited to BotLab Dynamics, an IIT Delhi‑incubated company, and organised in collaboration with the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC).

Spectators swell beyond capacity

The event drew more than 40,000 people inside the ground, exceeding its seated capacity of 33,500, while an additional 20,000 gathered outside. Organisers reported a 154 % rise in footfall compared with the previous year’s shows. Many viewers enjoyed the display from rooftops, balconies and restaurant terraces, with visibility reported up to 10 km under favourable conditions, according to Neha Verma, BotLab Dynamics’ Marketing and Communications Lead.

Technology and ambition on display

BotLab Dynamics has been providing drone shows for Mysuru Dasara since 2022, gradually scaling up its fleet: 250 drones in 2022‑23, 1,500 in 2024, a 2,983‑drone tiger in 2025, and now the 3,473‑drone peacock. The 2026 programme also featured a welcome message for the Chief Minister, a spiralling galaxy, a soldier raising the national flag, a butterfly, a roaring lion, and icons such as the Karnataka map, Lord Vishnu’s Sudarshana Chakra, Lord Shiva, Nandi, the Ambari elephant and Goddess Chamundeshwari.

"This record belongs to the people of Mysore. Forming our national bird with Indian‑made drones is a moment of pride for Karnataka," said Dr Sarita Ahlawat, Founder and MD of BotLab Dynamics. Aayush Bector, Head of Business at the firm, added that the achievement demonstrates how festivals and technology can grow together, positioning India at the forefront of immersive entertainment.

Looking ahead

BotLab Dynamics is already extending its reach, having executed large‑scale shows in Punjab and recently lighting up Eden Gardens in Kolkata with a 3,000‑drone Durga Puja display. With a fleet of over 10,000 drones and more than 700 shows worldwide, the company is poised to set further records and cement India’s status as a hub for cutting‑edge drone choreography.

The Mysuru Dasara drone shows continue on 20 and 21 October 2026 at 7 pm, offering another chance for residents and tourists to witness the sky‑borne spectacle.
