Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra leaks reveal camera overhaul and new design
Component production is underway in Korea as leaked renders show a redesigned camera bump, a 5,700mAh battery, and a drop to three rear lenses.

Samsung has started producing parts in South Korea for its next flagship smartphone line, pointing towards an official debut early next year.
While the company has not yet set a public date for its next Galaxy Unpacked showcase, the Galaxy S27 series is widely expected to arrive in February, following the release rhythm of earlier generations. At the top of that line sits the Galaxy S27 Ultra, which is already the subject of extensive specification leaks and CAD schematics detailing major changes to its chassis and camera setup.
What the leaked design reveals
Renderings based on factory specifications show Samsung moving away from the rear layout seen on recent models. While the front keeps a flat 6.9-inch screen and a single punch-hole selfie camera, the rear replaces the standalone lens rings with a substantial rectangular camera island.
According to schematics reported by Android Headlines, the phone measures 163.76mm by 78.25mm with a base body thickness of 7.97mm. That makes it roughly the same thickness as the S26 Ultra through the middle, but the new camera housing protrudes considerably further, taking the total depth to 12.53mm at its thickest point.
Samsung appears set to offer the Ultra in five colours: Black, Blue, Light Pink, Violet, and White. Built-in S Pen stylus support will also remain.
New camera setup drops the second zoom lens
The most notable hardware change is on the back. The Galaxy S27 Ultra will reportedly scale back from four rear lenses to three, eliminating the dedicated 3x telephoto sensor.
In its place is an overhauled triple array:
- A 200-megapixel main wide sensor
- A 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera
- A 50-megapixel ultrawide camera
Ice Universe, a frequent source of Samsung supply-chain leaks, reports that the optics produce a slightly warmer colour cast alongside improved highlight preservation and cleaner detail in shadow areas. On the front, the selfie camera receives an upgrade from 12 megapixels to 16 megapixels.
Processor, battery, and face recognition
Under the screen, the Ultra is expected to run Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, though Samsung may fit its in-house Exynos 2700 chip in select international markets. Memory is projected to remain at 12GB or 16GB of RAM, paired with 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of internal storage.
Power will come from a 5,700mAh cell—a meaningful bump in capacity—supporting 60W wired fast charging.
Samsung is also testing an infrared facial recognition system dubbed Polar ID. Unlike the broad cutouts required by Apple's Face ID hardware, the system is designed to work behind standard display cutouts without enlarging the punch hole.
Expected pricing and release schedule
Samsung has not confirmed retail pricing, but rising component costs continue to influence flagship tiers. Pricing leaks shared on X by @phonefuturist place the Galaxy S27 Ultra at an opening price of $1,399.
The same leak outlines a four-model lineup that includes an entry Galaxy S27 at $899, a Galaxy S27+ at $1,099, and a new Galaxy S27 Pro positioned at $1,299 to bridge the gap below the Ultra. Official launch dates, pre-order windows, and regional pricing for the UK and India will be confirmed when Samsung hosts its Unpacked event.
