India rejects OIC remarks on Jammu and Kashmir, calls out Pakistan propaganda
New Delhi rejects references adopted at the OIC foreign ministers meeting in Baghdad, pointing to economic progress in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370.

MEA rejects OIC resolutions
India's Ministry of External Affairs has categorically rejected references to the country adopted during the 52nd Council of Foreign Ministers meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in Baghdad, describing the remarks as malicious, biased, and false.
In a statement issued on 19 October, New Delhi accused Pakistan of orchestrating the propaganda to divert international attention from its own governance failures, political instability, and record of minority persecution. The government reiterated that the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has no locus standi to comment on matters strictly internal to India.
"The Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inalienable parts of India," the ministry said, adding that politically motivated propaganda could never alter that reality.
Development in Jammu and Kashmir versus repression in PoJK
Highlighting national stability and developmental milestones, the ministry noted that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed transformative economic growth following the abrogation of Article 370. Direct benefits have reached the population through expanded infrastructure, rapid tourism growth, and improved regional connectivity.
By contrast, the official statement highlighted severe human rights violations in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, where state-sponsored violence and media blackouts have failed to hide civilian repression.
| Region | Regional Status and Governance | Key Developments and Concerns |
|---|---|---|
| Jammu and Kashmir | Integral Union Territory of India | Infrastructure expansion, tourism boom, economic growth |
| Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir | Territory under illegal Pakistani occupation | Severe repression, civilian killings, media blackout |
The ministry stated that the only outstanding issues regarding Jammu and Kashmir are Pakistan vacating the areas under its illegal occupation and ending its ongoing support for cross-border terrorism.
OIC credibility questioned
Addressing hostile references in the OIC resolutions regarding Islamophobia, the ministry dismissed them as a desperate bid by Islamabad to cover up its internal turmoil and sectarian violence.
New Delhi warned that the 57-member Islamic bloc's repeated endorsement of fabricated narratives undermines its own standing on the global stage. The ministry called on OIC member states to reform the organisation rather than allowing it to be misused for Pakistan's narrow agenda.
