Chandrababu Naidu calls for technology-driven policing in Andhra Pradesh
Speaking on Police Commemoration Day, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu urged police to leverage advanced technology and treat crime victims with dignity to drive economic growth.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has called on police personnel to integrate modern tools like artificial intelligence, drones, and data analytics into their daily operations while maintaining a humane, respectful approach toward victims.
Addressing the Police Commemoration Day event at the sixth Andhra Pradesh Special Police Battalion in Mangalagiri, Naidu stressed that state development, job creation, and industrial investment are directly tied to effective law enforcement. Industrialists avoid regions plagued by insecurity, making stable governance and public safety top priorities for economic progress.
Naidu paid floral tributes at the Amar Jawan Memorial to mark the occasion, which honors the 10 police personnel killed in an ambush by Chinese troops in Ladakh on 21 October 1959. He highlighted the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers who remain on duty around the clock to protect citizens and maintain public order.
Modern tech and proactive crime prevention
Urging the force to turn Andhra Pradesh into a national leader in tech-enabled law enforcement, Naidu noted that while CCTV networks capture criminal activity, advanced data analysis is key to uncovering facts and preventing crimes before they happen. He suggested expanding drone surveillance across urban and rural sectors.
He also directed officers to act decisively against cybercriminals targeting citizens' savings, rowdyism, drug trafficking, and offenses committed under political cover. He particularly praised the state's Counter Intelligence unit for foiling threats to national security and commended the EAGLE anti-narcotics squad for its crackdown on illicit drugs and ganja.
Protecting citizens and encouraging investment
Emphasising the need for empathetic policing, Naidu remarked that every individual visiting a police station deserves respect and solutions. He stated that while the police uniform must reassure victims, it should instil fear in criminals.
While visiting exhibitions set up by specialised police wings, including the elite counter-terrorism unit OCTOPUS, Naidu inspected forensic equipment, disaster management gear, and modern weaponry. Reaffirming the government's commitment to officer welfare and the families of police martyrs, he urged personnel to manage operational stress through meditation and physical fitness.
