TDP candidate Vijaya Pratyusha files nomination for Kurnool mayoral election

Telugu Desam Party candidate Vijaya Pratyusha has formally entered the contest for Mayor of the Kurnool Municipal Corporation, submitting her nomination papers in Kurnool city on Sunday, the final day for candidate filings.

Ms Pratyusha was joined at the filing center by a delegation of senior National Democratic Alliance leaders, including Andhra Pradesh Minister for Industries and Commerce T.G. Bharath Gupta, Kurnool Member of Parliament Bastipati Nagaraju, and regional representatives from both the Janasena Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The joint appearance was designed to demonstrate coalition unity as the alliance prepares for municipal polls aimed at accelerating civic development and public infrastructure work across the city.

Speaking to reporters after the nomination submission, Minister T.G. Bharath Gupta praised Ms Pratyusha's credentials and past public service, describing her as a highly educated candidate well-suited to managing municipal governance.

The Minister highlighted her previous tenure as a city corporator, noting that she won her ward seat and delivered sustained civic improvements even while serving under the previous YSR Congress Party state administration.

Mr Bharath stated that the ruling state administration is committed to supporting developmental projects across every ward in Kurnool city, irrespective of political party representation.

"The support extended by the people to the NDA in the 2024 elections should continue in these municipal elections as well," Mr Bharath said. He noted that comprehensive urban progress across all 68 wards of Kurnool requires close coordination between municipal leadership and state agencies.

Coalition coordination and peaceful polling

Addressing the governance and conduct of the upcoming election, the Minister stated that the NDA government is focused on ensuring the polls are conducted in a peaceful, orderly, and transparent manner.

Regarding local coordination between coalition partners, Mr Bharath clarified that any operational or electoral concerns among the TDP, Janasena, and BJP would be resolved through structured internal discussions before the official deadline for nomination withdrawals closes.

The alliance leadership expressed confidence that securing leadership in the Kurnool Municipal Corporation will streamline administrative approvals and speed up local road, drainage, and utility infrastructure projects throughout the city.
