Coal- and lignite-fired power plants met 73 per cent of the incremental power demand during the quarter, lifting the average plant load factor across domestic coal-based plants to 68 per cent, up from 62 per cent a year earlier.

Thermal capacity expansion on track

To support long-term energy security, Adani Power is advancing a major expansion programme aimed at adding 23,720 MW of new thermal power capacity.

The company announced that the first 660 MW unit of its 1,320 MW Korba Phase-II Supercritical Thermal Power Project has been synchronised with the national grid and is set for commissioning shortly. The second unit is scheduled for commissioning in the fourth quarter of FY27.

Progress continues across other key thermal projects as well:

  • The 1,600 MW Mahan Phase-II Ultra-Supercritical project is expected to be fully commissioned in early FY28.
  • The 1,600 MW Raipur Phase-II and 1,600 MW Raigarh Phase-II projects have both cleared 65 per cent completion in under 30 months, with commissioning scheduled for FY29.

S B Khyalia, Chief Executive Officer of Adani Power, said the company remains focused on project execution to supply reliable, high-quality power to meet the country's growing baseload needs. He noted that domestic coal-based generation continues to anchor grid stability as electricity requirements grow.
