JSW Steel Q2 results show net profit jumping 225% to Rs 5,279 crore
Record steel volumes and expanding domestic demand drive a sharp rise in second-quarter earnings, despite stock market weakness.

JSW Steel Q2 results show record performance
JSW Steel has posted a 225 per cent surge in consolidated net profit for the July-September quarter, reaching Rs 5,279 crore on the back of record production and robust domestic industrial demand. Revenue from operations for the second quarter rose 21 per cent year-on-year to Rs 54,486 crore, compared with Rs 45,152 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Despite the strong financial performance, JSW Steel shares fell nearly 3 per cent to trade at Rs 1,182 on the National Stock Exchange following the earnings release, as investors weighed higher coking coal costs against strong volume growth.

Record volumes drive operational expansion
Operationally, the steel maker hit major milestones during the quarter, recording its highest-ever crude steel production of 7.27 million tonnes and record saleable steel sales of 7.46 million tonnes.
Domestic sales scaled a new peak at 6.29 million tonnes, up 12 per cent from a year earlier. Consumption was led by strong automotive demand, which surged 36 per cent year-on-year, alongside healthy institutional uptake across infrastructure and pipe manufacturing sectors. Exports accounted for 13 per cent of total sales from Indian operations at 9.8 lakh tonnes.
To build on this operational momentum, JSW Steel's board approved a capacity expansion plan for its Sambalpur facility, strengthening its long-term manufacturing footprint.
India remains an economic bright spot
In its commentary, JSW Steel identified India as a standout performer in the global economy, anchored by sustained capital investment, manufacturing momentum, and steady consumer spending.
The company highlighted the Reserve Bank of India’s upward revision of its FY27 GDP growth forecast to 7.1 per cent, up from 6.7 per cent, as a clear indicator of underlying economic stability. While global headwinds and geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East continue to create volatility in energy markets, India’s domestic industrial expansion continues to provide a dependable growth anchor for steel manufacturers.
