The Bharatiya Janata Party launched a fierce political offensive against the Congress party on Thursday, presenting media reports of foreign-backed protest networks and accusing opposition leader Rahul Gandhi of acting against national interests in a coordinated regime change plot.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia cited investigative reports detailing how international groups have created a global network across nine countries to undermine elected governments. The report flagged a 101-group alliance involving communist organisation Progressive International, which BJP leaders accused of coordinating protest messaging in France, Albania, and India.

BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had met representatives of Progressive International in New Delhi in April 2025. Bhandari questioned whether recent street demonstrations and planned protest marches were directly guided by foreign entities seeking political disruption in India.

While Congress attempted to counter the government by raising questions over past land transactions associated with the Ram Mandir Trust, the national focus remained firmly on national stability and governance accomplishments.

Demonstrating India's rising international profile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk at Hyderabad House for wide-ranging strategic talks. Both leaders agreed to double bilateral trade by 2030 and expand co-development in high-technology and security sectors.
